Change Happens
We have to risk life to get into life then it takes on colour, otherwise we might as well read a book

Clinical Supervision for Counsellors and Psychotherapists

Clinical Supervison

“Supervision is a form of experiential learning. Supervision is reflection-on-action, or indeed, reflection-in-action to result in reflection-for-action. In the present, we consider the past to influence the future” Michael Carroll.

Supervision is based on being-in-relationship and I operate from an existential perspective creating space and time for review, and discussion on those aspects of life and bringing awareness on the counselling relationship. It provides “space to explore the human condition and our own position in it” (van Deurzen 2009:ix)

So often Supervision is based on a hierarchial modality where the expert directs and advises the therapists on work with their clients. Supervision involves all parts of the therapeutic relationship including client, therapist, supervisor, the interaction between everyone involved including organisation and life itself. The relationship being the central focus, the existential perspective on supervision involves the exploration of all aspects of life, allowing the opportunity to glimpse at the different ways of how life presents itself.

Are you are considering a Supervisor or

changing your supervisor?

I have been supervising individual and small groups for over 6 years.

I currently supervise

Individual Supervision is available by agreement. A contract of the supervisory relationship will be agreed upon as we discuss your needs, experience, underpinning modality and how you work with your clients.

Group Supervision
Small group supervision has up to four members. It is cost effective, challenging and engaging while lending itself to creative supervision. It can offer a platform for increased knowledge about interpersonal relationships and provide support and opportunity to widen your personal view of situations and counselling relationships.

Supervision Training

As part of the Centre for Existential Practice a 5 day Supervision Training is offered. Further details can be found on the CEP website.
