Communication being the source of connection happens on many levels. Verbal communication accounts for 7-10% while most communication is non-verbal or conveyed in our body language. Communication is about clarifying and checking out what the other person is saying, or not saying. Miscommunication is when there are mixed messages and when fears such as being rejected or challenged or having a fear of conflict gets in the way of effective communication including being heard and understood.
Our values and beliefs contribute to our communication and can limit or provide opportunities for growth and change to happen.
Working in a safe environment our time together will be one of respect and engagement as we work towards awareness and change.
Individual and Couple Relationship Counselling Sessions
There is much debate on what is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy. In straightforward terms, Counselling usually addresses the immediate issues where Psychotherapy will seek to work at a deeper level and for a longer period of time.
Individual sessions - are tailored to work at your pace. I will assist you to develop awareness and understanding about the choices you have made and continue to make as you work towards change happening in an informed manner.
Couple sessions - are available to opposite and same sex relationships.
Many couples leave coming to speak with someone till their relationship hits a crisis point. Coming to speak with someone begins a process of moving away from the blame cycle that couples find themselves caught up in. It can be of benefit to see a professional before this happens.
Couples also come along when they have a sound relationship but need a “tune-up’ or when they are considering making an important decision.
