Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Question and answers

Are my sessions confidential?
Yes. I am bound by the the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Counsellors and Psychotherapist Association of NSW, which is a member organisation of the Australian Register of Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia.

How are my details kept private?
Any records are kept in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Amended 2000). All care is taken into consideration when using the Internet however like all Internet activity, no site is 100% secure.  This is why I ask for the minimum identifying data when you contact me.

How long is a session and what is the cost?
Individual sessions are for one hour and couple sessions start with one and a half hourly sessions and then may move to hourly sessions. Group therapy sessions run for two hours.  The cost for sessions can be discussed on enquiry.

What if I can't make my appointment or if I need to cancel?
My policy requires you to give 24 hours notice of a cancellation or if you need to reschedule otherwise you will be charged the full fee.  It is understandable that emergencies do happen and this will be taken into consideration. What is important is your level of commitment to making change happen and cancelling or not turning up for your appointment may indicate your level of commitment.

How often should I attend?
This will depend on what is happening for you. Some people attend a few sessions and find they have the answers they need while others will take longer. Each person is unique and you will know when you have what you need.

What is Sandplay Therapy?
Sandplay Therapy began with the work of Dora Kalf a Swiss Psychotherapist and a follower of   Carl Jung. In her work with children she noticed how children interacted in the sandpit at her home with the objects they placed in the sandpit and with water.  From this observation she pioneered this remarkable and exciting way of working that stimulates and makes visible our inner world.  Today Sandplay has become readily accepted and used extensively by therapists and is one of the modalities that I use to access  deep held beliefs.
